In India, traditional cooking is done in a Tandoor, which is exactly how the food is prepared at The Oven in Lincoln. The restaurant specializes in cuisine from Northern India, cooking it in the traditional clay oven. The meat at The Oven is marinated for several hours, mixing spices and yogurt together. While the meat is marinating on skewers, other chefs are making handmade breads. The breads and skewers are placed inside the tandoor oven to help seal the rich flavors of the meat and ensure its tenderness. The Oven is also a great place for a romantic dinner. The aroma coming from the tandoor helps create that special ambience.

FireWorks Restaurant opened in downtown Lincoln in December 2002. As Lazlo’s Brewery & Grill‘s more adventurous sister, we keep the tradition of from-scratch cooking, house-brewed ales and teamwork service. In February 2007, our restaurant relocated to its current home: a state-of-the-art, energy-efficient building at 5750 South 86th Drive in southeast Lincoln.

Our current FireWorks Restaurant building is an environmental leader in the industry. We custom-designed it to feature strategically positioned windows, skylights and a self-sustainable geothermal heating and cooling system. In 2009, we carried our eco-friendly efforts to the outdoors. FireWorks installed a 5,400 square foot rain garden containing more than 3,200 native plants, shrubs and trees. The self-sufficient rain garden captures pollutants from rain water runoff, and serves as a beautiful rest stop for users of the Billy Wolff bike trail.

In 1991, Lazlo’s Brewery & Grill opened in Lincoln’s Historic Haymarket District, bringing Nebraska its first restaurant-and-brewery, or brewpub. The demand for our from-scratch cooking, hand-crafted ales and teamwork approach to service was immediate. Over the years, this abundance of demand fueled more restaurants. A second Lazlo’s Brewery & Grill location opened in 2000 in South Lincoln, and our third in Omaha in 2006. Even with multiple Lazlo’s locations, something was still missing. In 2002, Lazlo’s sister restaurant, FireWorks, was born with the desire to bring adventurous wood-fired cooking to Lincoln.
